Joseph Mutugu

Joe is an accomplished and award-winning business executive with an exceptional blend of multi-sectoral and multi-cultural experience in Africa, Europe and the USA.  He has spent most of the past two decades working in executive management roles in the private and public sectors and has built a track record of excellence in start-up environments and multinational corporations, as well as large government institutions.  

He has over 10 years of executive management experience in the public sector, and in infrastructure, banking, insurance, real estate, energy, and investment banking.  Joe served as Chief of Staff and Special Advisor to the Cabinet Secretary in the Kenya’s Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development.  He was also the CFO of NIC Bank (now NCBA), UAP Old Mutual East Africa, Acorn Group Ltd., among others. 

He started his career as an auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers and worked as a corporate finance consultant at Deloitte Consulting and an investment banker at Merrill Lynch in New York City.  Joe holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, a Master of Science in Financial Economics from the University of Oxford, and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi and is also a Certified Public Accountant.
